By Heavy snowfall in the northern region has led to the complete closure of Babusar Top Road and the Naran–Jhalkhad route for all kinds of traffic, local authorities confirmed. A spokesperson for the local police stated that tourists and passengers traveling toward Gilgit-Baltistan should take the alternate Silk Road (Karakoram Highway) route, as Babusar Pass has become unsafe due to slippery road conditions and freezing temperatures. The precautionary measures have been taken to prevent accidents and ensure public safety during the harsh winter weather.
Police Withdraw Check Posts Due to Harsh Weather
Reports indicate that Mansehra Police have temporarily removed check posts from key points including Gatidas, Jhalkhad, and Besar. The decision came after snowfall made movement in these high-altitude zones difficult for personnel on duty.
Officials clarified that the removal of check posts is a temporary measure and they will be re-established once conditions stabilize and the route becomes accessible again.
Hotels and Restaurants Shut Down as Tourism Pauses
In addition to road closures, all hotels, campsites, and restaurants between Barwai and Babusar Top have been closed until further notice. This step aims to discourage unnecessary travel and prevent tourists from getting stranded.
Currently, travel remains open only from Naran up to Barwai, but authorities strongly urge travelers to stay updated on weather forecasts and official advisories before making any journey plans.
