Audi Adds a Power Nap Mode to the 2027 Q6 and A6 e-tron Electric Cars

Audi has quietly refreshed its most advanced electric vehicles in the U.S., and one of the new features is raising eyebrows. The 2027 Audi Q6 e-tron and A6 Sportback e-tron now include a new “Power Nap” mode, designed to help drivers relax or rest while the car is charging.

According to Audi, the feature “creates a calm and restful atmosphere during charging sessions.” The company did not go into technical detail, but the idea appears simple. When activated, the vehicle adjusts cabin settings to make short rest periods more comfortable while the car remains stationary.

The timing of the feature is what makes it unusual. These are premium electric vehicles with fast charging capability. Both models sit on Audi’s 800-volt Premium Platform Electric architecture and can charge at speeds of up to 270 kilowatts. Audi says a 10 to 80 percent charge can take as little as 21 minutes. That does not leave much time for an actual nap.

Still, Audi seems to believe there is value in making charging stops more relaxing, especially for drivers who want to unwind, close their eyes, or escape distractions while waiting.

The Power Nap mode arrives as part of a mild mid-cycle update for both vehicles. Audi did not increase range, battery size, or power output. Instead, the company focused on software improvements and small hardware changes aimed at comfort and usability.

Both the A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron now feature a revised infotainment system with a cleaner interface and deeper smartphone integration. Navigation, media, and phone functions can now mirror directly into the digital instrument cluster, reducing the need to look away from the road.

Audi also redesigned the steering wheel. Capacitive buttons have been replaced by physical scroll wheels, which makes volume and menu adjustments easier to control. The new wheel design draws inspiration from the Audi Concept C coupe.

Another notable update is the availability of an integrated dashcam. Mounted at the base of the rear-view mirror, the camera can record HDR video and high-resolution photos directly to an SD card. Drivers can review footage on the central display, and recordings include navigation data, speed, and time stamps.

Performance-focused buyers also get a small upgrade. The 2027 Audi S6 Sportback e-tron introduces a new Dynamic Plus drive mode. Audi says this mode allows limited oversteer at the edge of grip, giving experienced drivers more control when pushing the car hard.

Pricing and range figures remain competitive in the premium EV segment. The 2027 Audi A6 Sportback e-tron starts at $67,995, including destination. With the Ultra Package, it offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 395 miles. The rear-wheel-drive version produces 375 horsepower from a single motor and uses a 94.4-kilowatt-hour battery.

The Quattro all-wheel-drive version costs $2,000 more and increases output to 456 horsepower. The high-performance S6 Sportback e-tron delivers 543 horsepower and starts at $80,895.

The Audi Q6 e-tron lineup begins at $65,795. All versions use dual-motor all-wheel drive and the same 94.4 kWh battery found in the A6. The base model produces 456 horsepower and offers up to 325 miles of range. The SQ6 e-tron increases output to 509 horsepower and starts at $74,495. Audi will also sell a Q6 e-tron Sportback with a more coupe-like roofline.

The refreshed Audi A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron are scheduled to go on sale in the United States during the second quarter. While the Power Nap mode may sound odd in a fast-charging luxury EV, it reflects Audi’s growing focus on software-driven comfort features as electric vehicles become more commonplace.
