In a major development for road safety and law enforcement standards in Sindh, Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has officially inaugurated the Sindh Police Driving School at the Police Training School Saeedabad. This dedicated training facility aims to produce professionally trained drivers for police and other official vehicles, ultimately leading to safer roads across the province.
The inauguration ceremony began with a guard of honour for the Home Minister. Additional IG Training briefed the minister about the driving school’s core objectives and its expected impact on road safety and traffic management in Sindh.
While addressing the ceremony, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar described the driving school as a “gift for the citizens of Sindh.” He stressed that the new driving school will ensure that only qualified and properly trained drivers are allowed to operate official vehicles, which will help reduce road accidents caused by negligence or untrained drivers. Lanjar further highlighted that this step will promote a culture of lawful and responsible driving among police officers and other government employees.
The Home Minister also called for stronger coordination among all relevant stakeholders to enhance traffic regulation and management across Sindh. His remarks come after recent amendments that tighten traffic law enforcement, particularly for government officials.
Inspector General Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon also spoke at the event, emphasizing that the driving school will play a vital role in preventing road accidents and promoting safer driving practices. He shared plans to expand the initiative through public-private partnerships, which would broaden access to professional driving training in Sindh.
IG Memon also outlined steps being taken to make the driving license branch more efficient and transparent for the public. He highlighted the use of body-worn cameras by police officers to boost accountability and ensure fair enforcement of traffic rules.
Furthermore, Memon confirmed his commitment to finalizing new amendments to traffic laws to strengthen compliance and improve road discipline. He reiterated the Sindh Police’s dedication to completing the Safe City Project, which aims to enhance traffic management and urban security through modern surveillance systems.
The launch of the Sindh Police Driving School marks a significant milestone for improving road safety in Sindh, modernizing the police force, and setting an example for other provinces in Pakistan.
