Balochistan government introduces International Driving Licenses to facilitate citizens

In a significant move toward modernizing transport infrastructure, the Balochistan government has introduced International Driving Licenses to facilitate citizens with global mobility. This initiative was inaugurated with a visit from Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti to the Motorway Police’s Driving License Centre in Quetta, where his active participation underscored the program’s importance.

Chief Minister Leads by Example

Chief Minister Bugti set an inspiring example by personally participating in the theoretical and practical driving tests. His application for an International Driving License was processed and forwarded to Islamabad, symbolizing his commitment to the formal procedures. This gesture highlights the significance of adhering to the official licensing process.

Requirements for International Driving License:
  • International Application Form
  • Copy of CNIC
  • Two fresh passport-size photographs
  • Valid Pakistani driving license copy
  • Pakistani passport (valid for at least 6 months) with a visa
  • Ticket of the prescribed fee

This new initiative aims to provide citizens with a streamlined licensing process and align Balochistan’s transport system with global standards.

KP’s Digital Revolution in Licensing

Balochistan isn’t alone in its pursuit of modernized transport systems. Neighboring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has made notable advancements by introducing a digitized driving license system, which promises to enhance efficiency and transparency.

A highlight of KP’s reforms is the launch of a mobile application named “Dastak.” This app enables users to apply for driving licenses online, removing the need for intermediaries and addressing issues like fake licenses and fraudulent medical certificates.
